At the age of 23, he was given a chance to work in Costa Rica as a chef and among his notable clients were Kelly Slater, Shy Lopez, Cameron Diaz, and other Hollywood Stars. After 6 years, he came back to the Philippines to pursue his studies at Culinary Institute of Cagayan de Oro and he was the very first student under the Fast Track Culinary Course for OFWs in 2011.

Chef Jay became a food critic and food designer at Summit Media Publishing. He was featured at Appetite Magazine, Las Islas Magazine and Yummy Magazine for ten (10) times. His restaurant, Taco Surf, was featured in various TV programs in GMA Network, ABS-CBN, and Living Asia Channel.

Following the success of Chef Jay’s Taco Surf, he recently opened a restaurant in Lopues Art District, Bacolod named ‘B Burger’ but his business venture does not stop there. He plans to open a burger, burrito, and nacho restaurant soon here in Cagayan de Oro! Watch out for Borrachero’s because it will surely be a hit in the City of Golden Friendship.
