The Idea

Sometime in 2007, the idea of offering a culinary school was discussed between Board Members & top officials of Professional World Education System, but due to other pressing school priorities, plans were set aside for a while. Three years after; the idea once more came into fruition, in response to a worldwide tourism demand for food businesses. Finally on the 8th of May 2010, the Management believed the time was ripe to formally open to the public, the very Ist truly-professional Culinary School in Northern Mindanao: The Culinary Institute of Cagayan de Oro (CIC); registered legitimately under TESDA and the SEC.

The Place

Kagay-anons are known for their rich cultural blend; the calibre of its students are superior and the work standards and varied talents of its professionals are exceptionally high. The economic development in the city encourages entrepreneurs to venture into various business opportunities. Furthermore, the availability of rich agricultural and indigenous products make the city an ideal place for the First Culinary School in Northern Mindanao, as it is known today. Under this fertile environment, the Culinary Institute of Cagayan de Oro was born.

The Mission

The existence of the Culinary Institute of Cagayan de Oro is founded on its mission, to provide globally competitive education to inspire its students to master savoury and aesthetic food creations without compromising on nutritional value. This is what makes CIC as a school unique, as it seriously responds to the needs of the times, thus being the very First culinary school in the Philippines to offer an in-depth program in Holistic Nutrition.

The Vision

The Culinary Institute of Cagayan de Oro is determined to become an institution of learning distinctly recognized for promoting health through world-class culinary programs deeply-rooted in nutrition. To make this vision realistic and attainable, all CIC students are given the opportunity to experience meaningful learning through the acquisition of Knowledge, Skill and right Attitude.

Course Philosophy

At CIC, we believe that each student enrolled in either our Diploma &/or Certificate in Culinary Arts with Holistic Nutrition and Applied Science in Baking and Pasrty Arts, should be guided towards a fulfilling workplace experience; by making available to our students relevant enhancement seminars with authoritative guest lecturers, field trips, job shadowing, immersion training, advanced career placements, and other opportunities to ensure excellence in both culinary arts & nutrition At CIC, we believe in developing in each student a strong work ethic, a sense of responsibility, problem solving skills, supportive team player ability, strong interpersonal skills, effective business communication skills, and a desire for life-long learning.

The Future

Through the years, the Culinary Institute of Cagayan de Oro has encountered various challenges; thus providing the school golden opportunities to make improvements, showing dynamism to the times. To date, CIC has already successfully graduated several batches in its flagship program Culinary Arts with Holistic Nutrition. Partnerships with more industry practitioners are also continuously cultivated in both the domestic and in the international arenas; opening better employment opportunities for CIC graduates. With this in focus, the school can only have the best option, that is, to move forward and continue counting.

This of course, is possible through the unified efforts of the Supportive top level Management, Vigorous School Officials, Dynamic Faculty & Staff, Cooperative Students, Accommodating industry Partners, and above all, the Omnipresent Benevolence of our God Almighty.
